Medium Commercial Carrier
For this client, we provided high level project management for a PC/Client Server financial system implementation. Because the clients' implementation team was very strong, our involvement was minimized. Actual fees were approximately 25% of our initial estimate. However, we were heavily involved in the design phase. Management had difficulty determining the profit drivers for the company. Sinelli and Associates, Inc. reviewed the entire operation and built a "Strawman" that hypothetically defined the optimal way to measure business unit profitability. In essence, our approach was to say " If we owned the company, here is what we would define as profit drivers and here is how we would measure accountability for performance in each business unit." The "Strawman" proved to be an effective catalyst. Senior managers decided on the best reporting structure for the company and a solid Needs Definition was created to drive the project.

Clearly, this solution required adroit synchronization of the policy administration system and the financial systems.

Professional Malpractice Insurer
The President of a very successful professional malpractice insurer asked us to review the entire array of systems utilized by the enterprise. His concern was the ability of the current systems to support the strategic direction of the parent company. We delivered a comprehensive document for senior management evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the whole gamut of applications. Further, we recommended three major IT efforts be started very soon to bring the systems "up to speed".

The client addressed a major project to improve policy administration with their staff and asked us to revitalize the financial systems for the largest insurance subsidiary. We substantially improved the general ledger processing, automated reporting, timeliness of reporting and internal control for all of the ledger processes. We reworked the interfaces between the ledger and the policy administration system to greatly improve the quality and accuracy of management reporting.

Finally, we led the process to automate reinsurance processing with the Freedom reinsurance system. The operating environment was client server using both Unix and Windows based systems.

Major Reinsurance Underwriter
Our client is one of the largest re-insurance companies in the United States and is a wholly owned subsidiary of a major international insurance enterprise.

Sinelli and Associates, Inc. managed a substantial multi year effort to dramatically improve policy administration automation for the Direct Writing subsidiary of the Company.

In the past, Sinelli and Associates, Inc. managed the entire project to revitalize the financial systems. We helped the client determine all of the reporting needs for the general ledger. The spectrum of reports included regulatory reports to the NAIC and to shareholders, and a complex array of management reports.

We led the process to review and evaluate alternative systems. All of the finalists were new breed, relational data base financial systems.

We designed the general ledger and accounts payable system to achieve all of the desirable processing. We helped train the client staff to use a much more sophisticated application. The project was considered one of the most successful IT projects in Company history.
